The 66th day – The bread of life
“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” — John 6:35
Have you ever wonder why we always get hungry, even though we have had plenty not long ago? Or, how long can humans survive without food or water? I have. Therefore here is what I found.
“A human body can survive 8-14 days without water depending on the person and how fast sweat, urine, and tears are leaving the body and up to 4 weeks without food depending on conditions like weight, temperature and exertion.”
Basically, as a normal human being, we can not survive long without food and water. However, in today’s verse, Jesus declares that he is the bread of life. Whoever comes to him will never go hungry, and whoever believes in him will never be thirsty. Isn’t that too good to be true?
What does it mean by bread of life? The answer lies in John 6:51
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
As the function of bread, Jesus came to give us life, and life to the full. He came to satisfied our spiritual hunger that we always have in us. By believing in him, our spiritual hunger will be fulfilled, our thirst will be met forever.
God loves you!
