The 56th day – Prayer
“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name… — Matthew 6:9
Have you ever wondered how to talk to God if he really exists? Do you know you can have a close relationship with God just through simple prayer daily? Today’s verse is about the most famous Prayer in the history – The Lord’s Prayer. It teaches you how to communicate with God, the father who loves you dearly. This is what Jesus teaches his disciples about how to pray:
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
The Lord’s Prayer begins with “Our Father”, in Aramaic word “Abba”, means “Daddy”. Aramaic was the language Jesus spoke. Jesus taught his disciples to begin their prayers by addressing God in the most intimate, relational, and affectionate terms. He wants them to remember that God is a heavenly Father.
God, is the creator of all things, the king of all kings, the lord of all lords. He is also a God of impossible. How amazing is that we can call him “Daddy”? The heavenly Daddy, powerful and perfect, yet full of compassion and love, wants a close relationship with you and me! How good is that?
This is the Lord’s prayer in Aramaic words, it is so beautiful!
